28.11.2005 Over 18000 participants attend the World Summit on the Information Society in Tunis. Presidents, prime ministers, ministers as well as representatives of the development, civic and private sector were among the participants. Macedonia was one of them, represented on both official Governmental and civil society level. Read the report by Metamorphosis.

17.11.2005 Wednesday afternoon, November 17, the Tunisian Human Rights League (LTDH) invited the press and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) for what was to become a marathon of explicit talks challenging the Tunisian government on its human rights record. While heads of states’ speeches present at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) were pouring in on all TV channels, revolution was just around the corner in another district of Tunis. 16.11.2005 NGO-in-a-box (Security Edition) is a toolkit for human rights defenders, journalists and anti-corruption activists who need to protect themselves from e-mail surveillance and online filtering. The kit contains tools and instructions on how to avoid Internet censors, a collection of open source software programmes, and a programme that allows users to document human rights abuses via the Internet.

14.11.2005 Dopo il fallimento sostanziale della conferenza Onu dello scorso settembre sugli Obiettivi di Sviluppo del Millennio, adesso tocca all'ultima delle conferenze delle Nazioni Unite, e la meno conosciuta dall'opinione pubblica, il WSIS - o World Summit on the Information Society. Dopo una prima fase, svoltasi a Ginevra nel dicembre 2003, che ha prodotto una Dichiarazione di Principi nel tentativo di definire una visione comune della Società dell'Informazione, le premesse per la conclusione del Summit sono tutt'altro che rosee: su questioni fondamentali ci sono ancora posizioni molto diverse e, soprattutto, il fatto che il Summit si svolga in Tunisia - paese con un record negativo per i diritti umani e la libertà di informazione - non promette affatto bene.
