Del 8 al 10 de junio, representantes de los gobiernos latinoamericanos y caribeños se reunieron en Río de Janeiro, Brasil, para discutir y aprobar un plan de acción que permita implementar avances en el desarrollo de las nuevas tecnologías de la información y la comunicación y formular políticas concretas para construir una sociedad de la información que permita superar la enorme brecha digital que existe en América Latina y el Caribe, que sabemos está ligada a otras brechas sociales y económicas que marcan profundas desigualdades en la región.
