A survey of secondary schools in New Zealand has revealed that barrier to access to computers is still a major deterrent for ICT-based learning for students. Lack of confidence prevents the school teachers to use applications integrating ICTs into learning modules in those schools, shows the survey.

United Kingdom has lessons to learn from Scotland where an online university has achieved a 75 per cent increase in enrolment in the last one year. Edinburgh's Interactive University has 75,000 students from more than 23 countries in contrast to UkeU, which folded up after big losses.
