09.08.2007 Intel Corp. ties up with three Indian PC vendors, including HCL Infosystems Ltd., Wipro Ltd., and Zenith Computers Ltd to assemble the Classmate PC. The company will start shipping the product to Indian schools in September, 2007 which will be sold only to schools and not through retail channels to consumers.

Läheisen koulun oppilaat ovat alkaneet kirjoittamaan omia kirja-arvosteluja, jotka liitetään myöhemmin LibraryThingiin. Tietoverkkojen avulla pienet kirjastot voivat laajentaa mahdollisuuksia kirjojen lainaamiseen muista lähikirjastoista.
