Tietoverkkojen avulla pienet kirjastot voivat laajentaa mahdollisuuksia kirjojen lainaamiseen muista lähikirjastoista.

31.07.2007 Entinen "sadan dollarin tietokone"-hanke eli nykyinen OLPC:n (One Laptop Per Child) XO-tietokone on siirtymässä tuotantovaiheeseen. Tällä hetkellä koneen hinta on 175 dollaria ja ensimmäisten käyttäjien pitäisi saada kone käyttöön jo lokakuussa. Muun muassa YK:n kehitysohjelman siunauksen saanut XO on nyt saanut tuekseen myös tietokonejätti Intelin. Yhteistyön arvellaan hyödyntävän mahdollisuuksia hankkeen laajenemiselle.
