UNESCO has launched a book titled, Building National Information Policies: Experiences in Latin America in Kingston. The book emphasizes the importance for Latin American and Caribbean countries to adopt National Information Policies (NIP) to preserve their peoples right to access information.

According to reports by the World Bank, a number of countries in Africa have a low research and the trend was attributable to the minimal number of scientists and engineers. The reports recommended the attention on the development of scientific and industrial research base in the continent for significant progress in developing high-tech products export industry.

According to findings published in the latest e-skills Bulletin, UK provides considerably more training for IT professionals than most other European countries. The data is drawn from Eurostat research covering the original group of 15 EU member states.

The Budget allocation for higher and technical education in the country is set to treble in the 11th Five-Year Plan (2007-2012) with the Planning Commission expected to allocate over Rs 26,000 crore, compared to Rs 8,876 crore in the 10th Five-Year Plan.
