Some 30,000 people joined the Online Volunteering (OV) service since the United Nations Volunteers launched it in March 2000. The website of OV connects civil society organisations primarily working in the South with the people who are willing to apply their skills for local development through internet.

Though Uzbekistan has a net enrolment ratio of 99% with a minimal gender disparity, the quality of basic education is often low and less relevance. To improve the situation, Asian Development Bank has initiated a scoping study to integrate an ICT-assisted learning in certain grade levels.

Union communications and IT minister Dayanidhi Maran has recently inaugurated the ''Tele-Ophthalmology Rural Outreach Services (TOROS), an experiment to reach the state-of-the-art ophthalmic care to the rural inhabitants. The remote eye-care facility is piloted by the Chennai-based Eye Research Centre.

The website of Progressive Democratic Party (PDP), the opposition party in Tunisia, is blocked by the government authorities. PDPs website is the latest in the long list of websites, including Reporters Sans Frontiers (RSF) http://www.radionongrata.org , blocked by the Tunisian government.
