EU Information Society and Media Commissioner Viviane Reding recently announced the 'i2010' strategy plan, EU’s new ICT plan at Microsoft's Government Leaders Forum in Prague. 'i2010' is set to replace the earlier 'e-Europe 2005' action plan.

The first Steering Committee Meeting of the National Alliance for Mission 2007 was convened at the National Academy Of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS), New Delhi yesterday. The purpose of meeting was to take stock of the work done and the progress achieved by the Task Force Conveners since the National Policy Makers Workshop held in July 2004 in which the Blue print of Mission 2007 was drawn.

UNESCO Director General Koïchiro Matsuura recently announced the process of developing an interim tsunami alert system in the Indian Ocean. The Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO.
