The Malaysian government has promised its people a wider range of ICT services with the second phase of the Multimedia Super Corridor. The government will create several new cyber cities to expand its rapidly growing Internet technology industry and push for the status of a developed nation by 2020.

The President's Information Technology Advisory Committee of the United States government has recommended creating e-health records for all citizens in its recent report. The report will be among the key documents in US policy debates on the use of ICTs for healthcare.

The state of Punjab, India, has announced that it is hiring world class IT professionals to implement its e-governance plan. The professionals will work with the Punjab Information Technology Board to improve the efficiency of the administration. The government has invited recommendations from the people.

The Women of Uganda Network, an NGO promoting the use of ICTs by women, has received a grant from Dutch agency Hivos. The funds will be used to support and expand the organisation's activities in spreading the use of ICTs among women.

A network for sharing of programme content is helping Nepals FM stations connect better. Eleven FM radios outside the Kathmandu valley are using Internet, wireless and other new media technology to share six hours of audio software a week produced from a central hub. Started in 2001, the Networking FM Radio Stations in Nepal project now aims to provide up to 19 hours of programming.

Policy makers from Indian government will deliberate on broadband and ICT development in a two-day ministerial conference from July 1 to 2 in Bangkok. The conference is being organised by the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) to establish a framework of activities for broadband deployment in the APT member countries.
