A dozen auto rickshaws or e-Tuktuks equipped with laptops, printers, telephones, recorders, and the Internet roam the villages in remote Sri Lanka, combining the services of a traditional telecenter and radio station. So ingenious was the concept that it won the Stockhom Challenge GKP Award in Kuala Lumpur last December.

Nokias navigations tools will soon render the paper maps sold on streets a thing of the past. Wallets, cash, credit cards will all be replaced by a mobile wallet. Location-based social networking will allow the user to find out the exact location of his or her buddies.

This year the vote goes to My World and Viet Tech founder Nguyen Minh Tri from Vietnam. The runner-up in the annual competition to find the best entrepreneur age 30 or under in the Asia-Pacific region is Saloni Malhotra, founder and CEO of DesiCrew Solutions, an outsourcing business that taps Indias workforce in small towns and rural areas.

Google Incs YouTube has recently made all its videos available on certain latest generation mobiles. With the service being offered initially in 16 countries besides the United States and 10 languages besides English, it hopes to reach out to even more people.
