The Australian Information Industry Association's 2006 iAwards are set to recongnise ICT innovation across a total of 19 key industry categories with nominations closing on February 23rd, 2006.
iAwards will be presented for ICT solutions across a total of 19 key industry categories - agriculture and primary industry; applications and infrastructure tools; communications applications; community education and training; e-government and services; financial applications; general applications; healthcare; industrial applications; media and entertainment; research and development.

Nigeria Investment Promotions Commission (NIPC) revealed that the investment friendly atmosphere prevalent in the country in the last five years have attracted well over $5 billion worth of Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) into the country in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector.

Community radio has demonstrated its benefit in transmitting local information, eĀlearning, entertainment, disaster management and mass awareness on different issues in the countries of South Asian subcontinent. However, due to the indifference of the Bangladesh government, the country is yet to benefit from this technology.

Minister of State for Railways R. Velu on Tuesday declared open a novel facility of railway information on SMS at the Bangalore City Railway Station. The South Western Railway (SWR) on Tuesday launched services to offer railway information on SMS and credit/ debit card-based vending machines to issue unreserved tickets.
