International agency Oxfam called on US Members of Congress today to reject the Free Trade Agreement between the United States and Central American countries and the Dominican Republic (DR-CAFTA.) Oxfam believes that the agreement, in its current form, will do more harm than good and will endanger the livelihood of many thousands of small farmers who already live in poverty.

E' in corso in questi giorni (20-24 luglio) a Lima la riunione annuale della Fondazione Populorum Progressio: progetti di sostegno anche alla microimprenditorialità per 400 mila dollari. In Italia parte il Programma Microimprese: Comitato Collegamento Cattolici, artigiani e missionari insieme per far crescere il tessuto delle piccole attività economiche. che, secondo Microfinanza, sono nel mondo in via di sviluppo 500 milioni. Sono circa 200 i progetti di quest'anno, per un totale di oltre 2 milioni di dollari, che saranno proposti dalla fondazione 'Populorum Progressio' del Pontificio Consiglio 'Cor Unum', per l'aiuto economico per la promozione integrale delle comunita' indigene, meticce e afroamericane contadine povere dell'America Latina.

The success story of Madhabhavi village, in south India, is a striking example of how a private initiative can change the lives of people. The implementation of panchamukhi by Dr. Marulasiddaiah has changed the face of the village as everybody is part of the development process and is trying to make the village a model for other villages in the region.

Centar za razvoj Interneta, nevladina organizacija koja se bavi politikom informacionog društva i telekomunikacija u Srbiji, predložio je nadležnom republičkom ministarstvu izmene Zakona o telekomunikacijama. Ovim izmenama prava krajnjih korisnika i operatera trebalo bi da se bolje zaštite i usaglase sa standardima Evropske unije.

Norway tops the European league table of family-friendly nations as far as new fathers are concerned, and the government is now proposing to extend the "daddy quota" from four to five weeks, for exclusive use by the father.
