Saat ini 17 pengusaha emas menguasai wilayah Degewo Papua. Akibatnya, perselisihan demi perselisihan terjadi karena warga berusaha memperebutkan kembali hak ulayatnya. Tercatat sudah 50 orang menjadi korban dari insiden mempertahankan hak ulayat. Ironisnya, justru oknum-oknum aparat keamanan malah membekingi para pengusaha guna mengamankan kekayaan emas.

Kasus Runtu merupakan kasus perampasan tanah warga oleh perusahaan perkebunan sawit, yang terjadi di Desa Runtu Kecamatan Arut Selatan, Kabupaten Kotawaringin Barat (Kobar) tahun 2005 silam.

Kehidupan korban pelanggaran HAM pun sangat memprihatinkan. Mereka pun rata-rata bekerja sebagai buruh. Saat ini masih banyak anak-anak dari korban pelanggaran HAM yang putus sekolah karena penghasilan orangtuanya sebagai buruh tidak mencukupi. Karena itu, anak-anak mereka berhak atas pendidikan yang layak, kesehatan, tempat tinggal yang layak, yang semuanya harus diberikan pemerintah secara gratis.

Para penasihat hukum atau advokat kondang tak boleh hanya melayani klien berduit. Mereka juga wajib memberikan bantuan hukum cuma-cuma alias gratis kepada klien tak mampu. Ketentuan ini sebenarnya sudah diatur dalam pasal 22 UU No 18 Tahun 2003 tentang Advokat. Aturan teknis terkait UU itu agar bisa direalisasikan, segera dikeluarkan.
