The former project manager of SS Norway (Blue Lady) has submitted an evidence which reveals that the toxic ship-for-scrap renamed Blue Lady and currently anchored 4000 feet off Alang coast has radioactive material on board in at least 5500 fire detection points.

With all the three existing landfills in the National Capital Territory of Delhi running out of capacity and the Delhi Government announcing new sites for fresh landfills, the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), a nodal environmental body, said landfills were not a solution for the capital city's solid waste crisis.

Climate experts say 2007 will be the second warmest year on record since the 1860s. Current floods in Pakistan and heat waves in China and Greece may be signs of further disruptions caused by global warming. The warmest year on record so far has been 1998.

The Jal Biradari that consists of water campaigners’ across India has appealed to the Indian President to stop the construction of the Commonwealth games village on the bed of river Yamuna and relocate it to another site. Construction of buildings on the riverbed will harm the river and deplete drinking water.

"Soddisfazione verso gli impegni economici espressi sull’Aiuto Pubblico allo Sviluppo ed sulla cooperazione internazionale". E' il giudizio degli Stati Generali della Solidarietà e della Cooperazione Internazionale dopo un’attenta analisi e valutazione del Documento di Programmazione Economica e Finanziaria (Dpef) presentato la scorsa settimana dal Governo italiano. "L’aiuto pubblico allo sviluppo è entrato a chiare lettere nel decreto, rispondendo alle sollecitazioni più volte fatte dal mondo della solidarietà e della cooperazione" - dichiara la coordinatrice degli Stati Generali, Raffaella Chiodo. Il Dpef detta infatti il progressivo innalzamento della percentuale del Pil destinata all’Aiuto pubblico allo sviluppo con l'intento di avvicinarsi il più possibile all'obiettivo dello 0,51%. Positivi i segnali anche rispetto alle questioni ambientali, "ma ancora non c’è una proposta organica".
