British Columbia plans to contract out the administration of its Medical Services Plan, among other public services. That means confidential information on citizens could be handed to U.S.-based multinationals - then accessed by the FBI under the USA Patriot Act. The Panos Global AIDS Programme (GAP) will be running a series of activities and producing resources for the media around the XV International AIDS Conference in Bangkok, July 11th to 16th, for both media attending the Conference and for those who are not. The Panos GAP is a network of Panos offices from Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Europe. It aims to support in-depth, balanced media reporting in the South and to provide a Southern perspective to media in the North.
