As many as 500 Aboriginal women have gone missing in Canada over the past 20 years. It's the tip of a wider reality: Aboriginal women disproportionately face violence in their lives. This tragedy should long ago have become a priority for police forces, for governments, for media. Instead, it's a pattern so systematically ignored that it remains scarcely understood. Help break the silence.

Over the weekend, Canada's new Conservative Party lost its hardest asset - the fact that it was leaderless. In recent weeks, as the party began gaining support from Canadians keen to punish the scandal-ridden Liberals, pundits marvelled at how well it was doing "even without a leader or a platform." Talk about missing the point.
