Après 20 jours de détention, Gustave Kalenga Kabanda, éditeur-directeur de "La Flamme du Congo", hebdomadaire paraissant à Kinshasa, a été libéré, le 26 juin 2004 en début de soirée, sur décision du parquet général près le tribunal de Grande Instance de Kinshasa/Gombe. Le journaliste a payé une caution de 20 000 francs congolais (environ 53 $US).

The meeting in Neum, which was funded by SEEMO organisation, heralded the end of the Fourth Summer Summer School organised by Media Plan Institute. Within Summer Media School two seminars for young journalist were held: How to cover defense reform in BiH and NATO activities, supported by Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, and seminar on on line journalism, supported by Press Now. Meeting of lecturers from the Media plan High College of journalism was also held in the framework of Summer Media School.

The Media Development Centre (MDC), a Skopje based NGO, announced the start of its campaign for a new Law on Broadcasting at the press conference held today. The campaign, financially supported by IREX and the German Foreign Cultural Cooperation Institut – IFA (Institut fur Aslandsbeziehungen), will last until the new year, and will be officially opened by a research that should determine the causes for the lag in the procedure for adoption of the new Broadcasting Law.

Ljetna skola medija u Neumu zavrsila je raspravom o medijskom trzistu i tuzbama protiv novinara. Media plan Institut već niz godina izvodi edukacijske projekte u svim zemljama ugoistocne Evrope. Projekti su namijenjeni kako mladim novinarima pocetnicima koji zele steci nova znanja i vjestine iz oblasti radija, televizije, stampe i web novinarstva, tako i profesionalnim novinarima koji vec imaju odredjeno iskustvo i zele usavrsiti svoja novinarska umijeca, ali i razmijeniti misljenja i stavove.

Il Segretario generale delle Nazioni Unite, Kofi Annan ha ribadito ieri che l'Onu non tornerà in Iraq. Negli Usa la Commissione sui fatti dell'11 settembre afferma che non ci sono prove di legami tra Al Qaeda e Saddam Hussein e si segnalano. dopo le dimissioni del direttore della Cia George Tenet, quelle del comandante in capo delle forze Usa in Iraq, generale Ricardo Sanchez coinvolto nelle torture. In Italia, intanto l'Unione Nazionale Arma dei Carabinieri (Unac) pubblica oggi sul suo sito internet alcune fotografie inedite che testimoniano il trattamento subito da cittadini iracheni in stato di fermo o appena arrestati.

Reporter senza frontiere (RsF) denuncia la condanna a due anni di carcere a Ahmed Ezzedine, del settimanale Al-Ousbou, comminata il 16 giugno scorso per il reato di diffamazione a mezzo stampa. Il 23 febbraio scorso, il presidente Moubarak aveva annunciato l'abrogazione della legge che sanziona con pene detentive i reati a mezzo stampa. Ma le promesse del presidente sono ancora lontane.

Non è stato ancora reso pubblico. Ma dai primi dati delle agenzie, il "Rapporto sulla balneabilità" del Ministero della Salute segnala che per ogni chilometro di spiaggia balneabile ne rimane ancora quasi un terzo "off-limits". Tacciono i maggiori organi si stampa italiani che invece danno ampio risalto ai dati dello scorso anno resi pubblici recentemente dalla Commissione Europea secondo cui la qualità delle acque italiane di balneazione sarebbe "eccelente". Tutti dati che usano parametri di controllo risalenti a 20 anni fa e che tacciono sulle sostanze velenose presenti nei fondali. Martedi al via la Goletta Verde di Legambiente.
