The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is urging senators on both sides of the aisle to insist that attorney-general designate, Alberto Gonzales, commit to immediately appoint a special counsel to investigate and prosecute any criminal acts in the torture and abuse of detainees held by the U.S. government.

Africa has come of age, the Nigerian president told global political and business elites at the World Economic Forum, pledging that all funds raised to solve the continent's problems "will be faithfully utilised," and noting that peace and security must come first. British Prime Minister Tony Blair announced a new $85 million anti-malaria contribution at the gathering, encouraging other rich countries to come on board.

Ministarstvo za zastitu zivotne sredine i uredjenje prostora Crne Gore, ponistilo je rjesenja podgoricke Gradjevinske inspekcije po kojima je nedavno sruseno desetak ograda i objekata na trasi mini - zaobilaznice i taj predmet dostavilo Sekretarijatu za komunalno-stambene poslove Podgorice. Ova odluka izazvace seriju sudskih procesa. Resorno Ministarstvo je 6. decembra prosle godine, nekoliko dana nakon sto su objekti poruseni, utvrdilo da je ta rjesenja donio nenadlezan organ i proglasilo ih nevazecim. Rijec je o ogradama koje su bile sagradjene na privatnom zemljistu i njihovo rusenje je okoncano krajem novembra. Kasnije je u tom dijelu grada srusena samo kuca automobiliste Gorana Asanovica koja je bila izgradjena na drzavnom zemljistu i na nju se rjesenje Ministarstva i ne odnosi.

Workers with disabilities who are working in the federal public service are concerned that they will be the ones to end up paying for the increased privatization of government services. They feel privatization will have an effect on their working environment and on them personally as users of public services.

Ils témoignent de la privation de liberté qu’ils ont subie, de leur souffrance et des répercussions sur leur vie de jeunes adultes. Plusieurs des scènes du film ont été tournées clandestinement dans les institutions.

Lula a participé à « l’appel mondial pour l’action contre la pauvreté dans le monde » qui a été présenté officiellement aujourd’hui.

Al fine di sollecitare l'attenzione sul tema del debito estero la Campagna Sdebitarsi ha inviato un messaggio ai Presidenti , Capigruppo della Camera e del Senato riuniti sulle misure proposte dal governo a seguito del maremoto nel sud est asiatico. "Le iniziative annunciate più volte dal G8 ed in altre sedi internazionali sono state puntualmente disattese. Allo stesso tempo in Italia la cancellazione del debito e’ stata strumentalmente utilizzata per cancellare anche la cooperazione. Le risorse per lo sviluppo allocate con la legge finanziaria del 2005 per gli aiuti pubblici allo sviluppo corrispondono allo 0,11. Una politica di aiuto pubblico allo sviluppo se vuole essere seria e credibile deve fare marciare di pari passo la cancellazione del debito con l’allocazione di nuove risorse per la cooperazione. E’ scandaloso che una tale pratica sia stata legittimata alla fine anche in ambito di OCSE da parte dei principali paesi donatori". Queste sono alcune delle riflessioni firmate da vari esponenti di organizzazioni italiane a cui seguono richieste verso il Club di Parigi, Governo e G8.

Na javni oglas za sudjelovanje u Projektu ''Model Vijeća ministara BiH'' apliciralo je više od 130 mladih ljudi različitih profila iz cijele Bosne i Hercegovine i dijaspore. Nakon pregleda prijava najboljim kandidatima bit će omogućeno tromjesečno stažiranje u državnim ministarstvima.

Nella sfilata dei ''200mila di Porto Alegre'' non sono mancati slogan contro la politica del presidente brasiliano Lula che dopo un comizio di politica estera al Forum volerà a Davos, per il World Economic Forum che si sta svolgendo in Svizzera. Su questa decisione critiche sono arrivate da quattro rappresentanti del Consiglio Internazionale del Fsm. E al Forum si è parlato di quale ruolo per uno sviluppo veramente "alternativo" può avere il Brasile all'interno dei G20, i paesi del Sud del mondo alleati all'interno dell’Organizzazione Mondiale del Commercio.

President Bush has re-nominated a former attorney from his administration and lobbyist for the National Mining Association to a lifetime position on the federal bench. His court would have jurisdiction over three-fourths of all federal lands and decide coutless mining, drilling, grazing, and timber cases. And William G. Myers III--who has never been a judge before--was rejected the first time Bush tried to nominate him.

Serious doubts about Alberto Gonzales' commitment to ending the practice of torture employed by U.S. soldiers abroad have led a slew of human and civil rights organizations to oppose President Bush's nominee for the top law enforcement position in the country, saying he is a threat to American values that detest torture and secrecy.

Swasimaan järjestäytyneet työntekijät ovat järjestäneet kaksipäiväisen lakon vaikuttaakseen maan perustuslain uudistustyöhön. Ammatillinen keskusjärjestö vaatii maata hallitsevan kuninkaan vallan rajoittamista perustuslaissa.
