The Kerala Cabinet decided to ban production and sale of Pepsi and Coca-Cola in the State.Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan told mediapersons after the Cabinet meeting that the ban was being imposed as the colas contained substances harmful to health of the people. The ban might be extended to other products of the companies after due examination as they were also reported to contain such substances.

La delegazione della societa' civile italiana ha completato la sua missione in Libano. "Abbiamo avuto modo di comprendere quali sono i bisogni reali della gente in questo momento parlando direttamente con le vittime: profughi, feriti ricoverati negli ospedali" hanno dichiarato i rappresentanti delle Associazioni pacifiste e delle ONG presenti nella delegazione. Il cessate il fuoco denunciato è stata la richiesta che da gente comune, vittime e istituzioni, è emersa con maggiore forza. "Dare aiuti mentre il conflitto armato è in corso"- ha detto una donna di un quartiere a Sud di Beirut ospitata in una scuola - "è cosa molto importante, ma rischia di essere come riporre qualcosa in un canestro senza fondo". La delegazione ha insistito particolarmente per la costituzione e il rispetto di corridoi umanitari. Al ritorno in Italia, i membri della delegazione chiederanno al Governo Italiano un segno efficace verso la pace interrompendo l'accordo di cooperazione militare con Israele e di farsi portatore in ambito internazionale di un embargo di armi. Inoltre si chiede di Consentire l'attracco delle navi, i collegamenti aerei a scopo medico sanitario, la libera circolazione dei mezzi di soccorso, sono azioni minime consentite dal diritto in situazioni di guerra ma non permesse in questo momento in Libano, dalle forze israeliane.

Nunca antes en Bolivia se había dado la presencia simultánea de pueblos y nacionalidades motivados por un evento político. Esta vez no fueron invitados de segunda o tercera categoría y no acudieron a tratar de vender alguna artesanía para su sobrevivencia.

The initiative 'Commonwealth Connects' aims to bridge the digital divide that leaves large numbers of people in many vulnerable Commonwealth countries cut off from the information flow.

People from the states of Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, UP, West Bengal, New Delhi and other parts of India joined farmers from the Narmada valley at Rajghat, near Badwani in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, to protest against the displacement and submergence of villages by the waters of the Narmada dam. CRY – Child Rights and You welcomes the Ministry of Labour's recent notification that bans children below 14 from working in residences and the hospitality sector but feels it's an insufficient response. Gaps exist. CRY CEO Ingrid Srinath writes in this article that this notification cannot be effective without proper enforcement and rehabilitation provisions. For real change root causes have to be addressed.
