According to a new report from Oxfam, the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) reform talks to be held in Geneva this week may collapse because rich countries are not fulfilling their promises to lay the ground for possible reduction of world poverty by redressing global trade imbalances. The draft negotiating text released by the WTO “shows evidence of considerable rich-country influence and does not adequately address key areas of interest to developing countries” such as the export dumping, market access and protection of vulnerable sectors of the their economy.
