Africa Freedom day which falls on 25th May, is a day in which as Africans we observe the creation of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) and pay tribute to the Heads of State, who through a common vision of unity, decided to seek a joint African solution to the dichotomy facing Africa in the 1960s.

En las calles de Caracas las paredes todavía estaban llenas de pintas del pasado referéndum, muchas diciendo vota no (que Chávez no se vaya) y otras vota sí (que se vaya), y muchas diciendo simplemente no, o sí, en letras de todo tamaño. Especialmente me gustó una que decía: di no al yes.

Todos conocemos el innegable amor de Batlle por todo lo "Made in USA", incluidos el english, ciertos bloqueos a Cuba, invasiones a Iraq, torturitas por allí, Guantánamos, Abu Graibs, intervención en Colombia, golpes de estado en Haití, Venezuela, etc., etc., etc

The adverse effects of unfair rules of global trade have made it imperative for national governments to have enough sovereign rights for policy formulations to deal with the situation. It is unfortunate that this policy space of national governments is gradually shrinking, with unfair trade rules in vogue.

The United States and Pakistan agreed to turn the existing cooperation between the two countries in the education sector into a long-lasting and enduring relationship. Ushering in a new era, Nepal’s revived Parliament, in a historic declaration today, adopted resolutions that not only stripped the King of his title as the Supreme Commander of the Royal Nepal Army, but also brought his private property and earnings into the tax net. The King’s decisions can henceforth be debated in Parliament as well as challenged in a court of law.

The United Nations launched a year-long $300-million plan to begin rebuilding areas of northern Pakistan devastated by an earthquake seven months ago.More than 73,000 people died and about 3 million became homeless in the powerful quake that hit Pakistani Kashmir and adjoining North West Frontier Province on Oct. 8.
