A survey of secondary schools in New Zealand has revealed that barrier to access to computers is still a major deterrent for ICT-based learning for students. Lack of confidence prevents the school teachers to use applications integrating ICTs into learning modules in those schools, shows the survey.

Indian state West Bengal has signed a pact with Microsoft to implement the Project Shiksha initiative, a programme to be rolled out in 10 states to make teachers IT literate. Microsoft is planning to train 12,000 teachers and one million students in the state over the next five years.

Over 200,000 schoolchildren, siblings, and parents are benefitting from a school feeding program in Vietnam that has improved children's nutritional state and attitude towards school. Not only do the children receive nutritious snacks, but teachers have been trained to teach proper hygiene practices and parents have been increasingly involved in their children's schooling too.

Fifteen years ago, the United Nations General Assembly ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child. This convention recognizes that, in all countries of the world, there are children living in exceptionally difficult conditions and that such children need special consideration. To date, 192 countries have ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Dia 20 de novembro, a Convenção Sobre os Direitos da Criança completa 15 anos de existência. Apesar de todos os países da América Latina terem assinado o tratado internacional – de garantia de direitos a essa população –, a situação dos meninos e meninas da região ainda é de risco social. “Na América Latina 58% das crianças menores de 5 anos são pobres e 190 mil crianças morrem ao ano vítimas de enfermidades ligadas à pobreza”, revelou Bernardo Kliksberg, coordenador geral da Iniciativa Interamericana de Capital Social, Ética e Desenvolvimento do Banco Interamericano de Desenvolvimento (BID). A afirmação foi feita recentemente durante a conferência Porque a ética é importante para o desenvolvimento, organizada pela Banco Central da Venezuela.

Canadians are demanding nothing less than a universal, not-for-profit program that's publicly funded with principles that can be enforced. This will only happen with major pressure. Povodom godišnjice usvajanja Konvencije o dečjim pravima, kancelarija Unicefa za SCG dodeljuje godišnju novinarsku nagradu za najbolje izveštavanje o deci i dečjim pravima. Na konkursu je učestvovalo ukupno 37 novinara sa 45 priloga. Dodeljuju se dve nagrade - jedna za štampane i jedna za elektronske medije

Some days ago, I found a leaflet, courtesy of HEP (Croatian Electric Power Supply company) in my mailbox. There was a photo of a boy on the cover, munching on his pencil, with the words “Where does the current flow?” floating around his head as a line of thought. HEP’s leaflet was a nice surprise, actually. But only on the outside. Inside, there was another story inside...

Järjestön mukaan suomalaista edunvalvontajärjestelmää ja lainsäädäntöä tulisi kehittää niin, että ne edistäisivät lapsen oikeutta tulla kuulluksi.
