Sono moltissimi in Europa i bambini e le bambine vittime di tratta. Vengono reclutati dalle organizzazioni criminali nei paesi di origine, solitamente dell’Est e Sudest europeo, e trasportati nei paesi di destinazione (es. Italia, Francia, Spagna, Gran Bretagna) dove sono trattenuti o venduti a fini di sfruttamento sessuale, economico, lavorativo, di adozione illegale, spesso costretti a vivere in situazioni di vera e propria schiavitů.
