06.02.2007 Delhi’s (and India’s) public schools are actually private schools. Getting access there is no less a achievement than tackling the IIT’s JEE. Perhaps no where is this more true than in the Nation’s capital , where even getting your child into a kindergarten class is so nightmarish that they are governed by court directives and the admissions process is monitored by the Delhi High Court.

Safer Internet Day 2007

05.02.2007 A curious nine-year-old Mukesh Vanzara ventured out of his home in Asarwa on September 6 last year to watch a religious procession. Still in his school uniform, that was the last his mother saw of him. Since then, it has been countless rounds to the Shahibaug police station for the poor and completely broken Vanzaras.

Da Save The Children
01.02.2007 The first Education for All (EFA) goal calls for ?expanding and improving comprehensive early childhood care and education (ECCE), especially for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children?. Enrolment in ECCE programmes has tripled since 1970, but access remains limited in most developing countries. Children most exposed to malnutrition and preventable diseases are least likely to have access.

Stop Child Labour
01.02.2007 In Nepal non-governmental organisations (NGOs) are contributing to the eradication of child labour through education, but support is minimal. Coordination is poor so that the most vulnerable children are not identified and prioritised for support.
