28.05.2007 Orissa has initiated e-Pragati, a project that would connect even the remotest Anganwadi workers in the state and publish information on their work profiles and children under their care. The venture will complement the existing e-Shishu plan that cyber connects lakhs of children in state.

The first initiative has been taken by the city of Chandigarh in association with United Progressive Muslim Front to teach a basic course to the students of Manimajra Madarsa.

23.05.2007 La situazione dei bambini iracheni vittime di violenze, sfollati e profughi ha ormai raggiunto un punto critico: per fornire soccorso e aiuto tanto ai bambini che vivono in Iraq, quanto a quelli rifugiatisi con le famiglie in Siria e Giordania, l’UNICEF ha bisogno per i prossimi 6 mesi di 42 milioni di dollari. “Gli aiuti umanitari possono offrire un’ancora di salvezza ai bambini iracheni che si trovano sotto assedio, e aumentare gli aiuti ora è il modo migliore per investire nel futuro dell’Iraq”- ha dichiarato Dan Toole, vice-direttore dell’UNICEF e responsabile degli interventi di emergenza.

Bambini nella regione della Lobaye (Rep. Centrafricana) - da Coopi
15.05.2007 Con il sostegno di UNICEF, COOPI ha avviato nel marzo scorso un programma d'educazione in brousse - nei boschi circostanti gli insediamenti abitati - in favore dei bambini sfollati nella zona di Paoua nella Repubblica Centrafricana. Dal 2001 gli scontri in corso nelle prefetture del Nord della Repubblica Centrafricana hanno provocato la fuga di circa 150.000 persone che hanno lasciato i loro villaggi per rifugiarsi oltre le frontiere centrafricane, in Ciad, Camerun o in brousse. Il già fragile sistema scolastico ha risentito fortemente di questa crisi; su 98 scuole presenti nella sottoprefettura di Paoua (all'interno della regione dell'Ouham-Pende) solo 4 sono funzionali, e tutte situate nella città di Paoua, principale nucleo abitativo della regione.
