The role of women as producers and providers of food is often overshadowed by their role as care givers. However, in most of the developing countries, including India, large numbers of women are engaged in agriculture- primarily in the production and processing of food.

Suomen Lähetysseuran ensi vuoden budjetti kasvaa noin 1,4 miljoonalla eurolla 24,9 miljoonaan euroon. Kehitysyhteistyöhön käytetään 14 prosenttia kuluista. Koulutukseen, terveydenhuoltoon ja yhteisönkehitykseen liittyviä hankkeita on erityisesti Tansaniassa, Etiopiassa, Senegalissa ja Angolassa.

Dozens of Indian civil society organizations have formed a Peoples Caravan to lobby with the Indian government against the proposed World Trade Organization (WTO) agreements. The Peoples Caravan, which is holding a mass awareness campaign all over the country, has already reached millions of Indians through rallies, public meetings and street plays. The World Trade Organisation (WTO) completed 10 years in January 2005 and is getting ready for its sixth Ministerial conference in Hong Kong in December. It is important to discuss strengthen and weakness of different sector before making commitment. The emergence of education services under GATS and the emergence of private providers of education- domestic as well as foreign, in particular, have necessitated clear policy guidelines and regulations.

Afghanistan was recently approved as the eighth member of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), a largely toothless body set up in 1985 which includes Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
