21.10.2006 Il Premio "Cuore amico" 2006 viene assegnato oggi a Brescia a p. Giovanni Querzani, missionario saveriano che opera nella Repubblica Democratica del Congo, a suor Domitilla Mosella attiva in Costa D’Avorio e al dott. Gianfranco Morino, un medico che presta la sua opera in Kenya. E proprio il dott. Morino denuncia che l’Africa si sta disintegrando sotto i nostri occhi, depredata del sottosuolo e delle foreste, distrutta dall’Aids, strangolata dal debito e dai banditi ai governi, ulteriormente impoverita dalla fuga dei suoi cervelli migliori". E pone una domanda: "Noi piccoli e grandi lavoratori della cooperazione dovremmo farci onestamente una domanda: siamo parte del problema o parte della soluzione?". L’obiettivo del Premio Cuore Amico, "Nobel missionario", è segnalare l'opera promossa dalla Chiesa attraverso l'evangelizzazione e a favore dei poveri del Sud del mondo.

20.10.2006 ActionAid-järjestö pitää tervetulleena G8-ryhmän aloitetta, jonka mukaan jokaisen niistä on solmittava kumppanuussopimus jonkin Afrikan maan kanssa vuonna 2007. Toisaalta järjestö varoittaa, ettei muita 35 Afrikan maata saa jättää prosessista syrjään.

20.10.2006 Yhden vuorokauden aikana yhteensä 23 542 614 ihmistä yli sadassa maailman maassa osoitti tukensa YK:n vuosituhattavoitteille ja nousi kirjaimellisesti seisomaan köyhyyttä vastaan "Stand Up" –tempauksessa, jota koordinoivat YK:n vuosituhatkampanja sekä Global Call to Action against Poverty (GCAP) -verkosto. Tempauksella pyrittiin Guinnessin ennätysten kirjaan, ja tavoite saavutettiin.

20.10.2006 Kehitysyhteistyöjärjestöt ovat iloisia siitä, että ministerineuvosto hyväksyi 17. lokakuuta sopimuksen kehitysyhteistyön uudesta rahoitusvälineestä. Sopimus takaa 17 miljardia euroa yhteisön kehitysapuun 2007–2013 ja turvaa avun jatkumisen vuoden 2007 alusta lähtien.

Così Luca De Fraia, direttore della policy di ActionAid International commenta le dichiarazioni del primo ministro tedesco Angela Merkel che ha annunciato il ritorno del tema dello sviluppo del continente africano nell’agenda del prossimo G8 che si terrà il prossimo anno in Germania. “A questo punto è essenziale che il Governo chiarisca quale sarà il contributo che l’Italia intende dare al prossimo G8 ed è sempre necessario che si risponda degli impegni presi di fronte alle milioni di persone”. L'Osservatorio Italiano sull'Azione Globale contro l'Aids ha inviato nei giorni scorsi al Governo italiano una lettera per sollecitare il pagamento di 150 milioni di euro con il Fondo Globale per la lotta all'Aids che l'Italia fino ad oggi non ha rispettato.

YK:n jäsenmaat ovat jo sitoutuneet osoittamaan rahastolle 140 miljoonaa dollaria. Tavoitteena on koota 250 miljoonaa. Rahaston ensimmäiseksi kohdemaaksi suositellaan Sierra Leonea.
