16.11.2006 The Second International Conference e-Society.mk started yesterday, November 15, in Skopje. The conference, which will close on Friday, November 17, 2006, gathers Macedonian and international ICT experts, to facilitate exchange of experiences and create policies based on the latest information related to information society.

15.11.2006 YK:n ympäristöohjelma UNEP ehdottaa uudenlaisten vakuutusten ja rahoitusmallien luomista, jotka auttaisivat kehitysmaita sopeutumaan ilmastonmuutokseen. UNEP varoitti myös, että ennen vuotta 2040 tulemme kokemaan vuoden, jolloin kuivuuden, hirmumyrskyjen, hurrigaanien ja tulvien aiheuttamien tuhojen kustannukset nousevat lähelle 800 miljardia euroa.

14.11.2006 Ulkoministeriö ja Kehitysyhteistyön palvelukeskus Kepa allekirjoittivat tänään vuosia 2007—2009 koskevan rahoitussopimuksen sekä kumppanuussopimuksen kehitysyhteistyöohjelman toteutuksesta. "Kumppanuussopimusten jatkuminen ei ole ulkoministeriölle itsestäänselvyys. Kepalla on syvät juuret kehitysyhteistyöhön ja sen työ tukee hyvin Suomen virallista kehitysyhteistyötä", totesi alivaltiosihteeri Rasi.

14.11.2006 Kymmenes marraskuuta pidetyn Kepan vuosikokouksen pääteemaksi nousivat jäsenmaksujen korotukset, joita vastustettiin erityisesti pienten järjestöjen piirissä. Kokouksen yhteydessä pidetyssä seminaarissa käsiteltiin pienhankkeiden hallinnon ulkoistamista ulkoministeriöstä.

14.11.2006 Malawin tasavallassa, Sambian, Tansanian ja Mosambikin välissä, on yksi maailman sisävesien aarreaitoista: Malawi-järvi, jossa elää yli 1 000 kalalajia. Malawissa voi nähdä myös äärimmäisen uhanalaisen suippohuulisarvikuonon, joka halutaan palauttaa Malawiin WWF:n tuella. Lähde nettimatkalle Malawiin ja tue WWF:n tuloksekasta suojelutyötä, josta hyötyvät monet uhanalaiset lajit mutta myös malawilaislapset.

10.11.2006 L'Associazione ONG italiane denuncia la grave situazione che viene a crearsi con il nuovo articolo 53 inserito nella Finanziaria dal Ministro Padoa Schioppa con il quale si effettua un taglio trasversale su tutti i Ministeri, colpendo quello degli Affari Esteri con una diminuzione di 83 milioni di euro. Di questi, 48 vengono prelevati dai 600 milioni previsti dal "Fondo a Dono" della prima bozza di Finanziaria, e cioè le uniche vere risorse disponibili per gli aiuti ai paesi più poveri e in via di sviluppo. La discussione dell'articolo proposto spetta alla Commissione Bilancio della Camera per poi passare al Parlamento per essere approvato. "Questo taglio proposto di quasi il 10% delle risorse è una mossa che rende risibile il tanto declamato impegno di questo Governo a dare un segno di controtendenza rispetto a quello Berlusconi" - denucia Sergio Marelli, presidente dell'Associazione ONG Italiane.

10.11.2006 Suomen Lähetysseuran työ Taiwanissa alkoi vuonna 1956. Ensimmäiset työntekijät olivat kolme entistä Kiinan-lähetystyöntekijää. Lähetysseuran työntekijät olivat joutuneet poistumaan Kiinasta kommunistien noustua valtaan 1949. Suomen Lähetysseuran työntekijä Irma Nygren on asunut Taiwanissa 30 vuotta. Hän on nähnyt maan vaurastumisen ja kehittymisen.

08.11.2006 Suomen UFF tukee One World -opettajakorkeakoulua, joka on ADPP-yhdistyksen ylläpitämä hanke. Korkeakoulu on perustettu vuonna 1998 Mosambikissa. Kouluun tulee opiskelijoita myös Angolasta. Sen tarkoituksena on kouluttaa opettajia opettajille, jotta myös tulevaisuuden perus- sekä ammatillinen koulutus olisi turvattu.
