Suomen Pakolaisavun hankkeen lukutaitopiiriläinen Sierra Leonesta.
08.12.2006 Ulkoministeriö on myöntänyt hanketukea kansalaisjärjestöjen kehitysyhteistyöhön vuosille 2007-2009. Ulkomaankauppa- ja kehitysministeri Paula Lehtomäki päätti asiasta viides joulukuuta. Tukea myönnettiin yhteensä 19,7 miljoonaa euroa. "Vuodelle 2007 eniten rahaa myönnetään järjestöjen kehitysyhteistyöhankkeille Afrikassa", kertoo Kepa.

08.12.2006 In Douala, Cameroon, last month the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO) and CEDR (the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution), Europe’s largest dispute resolution body, delivered a three-day Conference on Alternative Dispute Resolution to 32 lawyers and barristers, representing eight African countries from the Telecommunications sector.

06.12.2006 In occasione della giornata Mondiale del Volontariato indetta dalle Nazioni Unite, che si celebra oggi, Volontari nel mondo - Focsiv ha assegnato nei giorni scorsi l’Oscar del volontariato Internazionale 2006 a Filippo Frazzetta, giovane architetto impegnato in un progetto multi settoriale nel villaggio di Nyololo in Tanzania. Il riconoscimento, al suo dodicesimo anno di vita, viene dato a Filippo che vive da più da due anni a fianco dei poveri della terra, con entusiasmo e professionalità. Nella Tavola rotonda, presente il Vicepresidente del Consiglio dei Ministri On. Francesco Rutelli, Sergio Marelli, presidente Associazione ONG italiane ha ricordato che "oggi ci troviamo in una situazione di profonda incertezza di fronte alle scarse risorse che attraverso la Finanziaria 2007 il Governo assegna alla cooperazione internazionale e quindi al volontariato internazionale".

05.12.2006 Kehitysyhteistyöjärjestöjen EU-yhdistys Kehys ry. on myöntänyt vuoden 2006 Kelpoa kehitystä -palkinnon Suomen ulkomaankauppa- ja kehitysministeri Paula Lehtomäelle. Palkinto jaettiin nyt ensimmäistä kertaa ja se myönnettiin tunnustuksena työstä EU:n kehityspolitiikan parantamiseksi. Lue myös Kepan uutinen aiheesta.

05.12.2006 Kirkon Ulkomaanapu (KUA) on myöntänyt katastrofirahastostaan 50 000 euroa Tansaniasta karkotettujen ruandalaisten humanitaariseen apuun. KUA:n tuella muun muassa rakennetaan vesijärjestelmä uudelle asutusalueelle. Alueella asuu tällä hetkellä noin 1 300 ihmistä, mutta määrä kasvaa koko ajan. Palaajaväestö saa myös perustarvikkeita elämistä varten.
