Continuano le critiche nei confronti del governo degli Stati Uniti accusato di essere il principale sostenitore militare e finanziario della cosiddetta Alleanza contro il terrorismo, il gruppo che raccoglie alcuni dei principali signori della guerra di Mogadiscio e che nei mesi scorsi ha giurato di cacciare dalla città somale le cosiddette Corti Islamiche, ritenute collegate al terrorismo internazionale. Dopo che nelle scorse settimane la battaglia tra fazioni rivali ha provocato circa 150 morti e oltre 250 feriti resta alta la tensione a Mogadiscio dove i miliziani delle due fazioni avversarie sono rimasti nelle posizioni di combattimento. E in vista della Conferenza dei Paesi donatori e dei Governi che entro il 2006 si riuniranno a Roma per pianificare il futuro degli aiuti alla Somalia le Ong Italiane chiedono di partecipare alla riflessione in programma

The adverse effects of unfair rules of global trade have made it imperative for national governments to have enough sovereign rights for policy formulations to deal with the situation. It is unfortunate that this policy space of national governments is gradually shrinking, with unfair trade rules in vogue.

The United States and Pakistan agreed to turn the existing cooperation between the two countries in the education sector into a long-lasting and enduring relationship. The US agreed to help Pakistan in making up for the deficiencies in infrastructure at the school level, especially in the rural areas.

Ushering in a new era, Nepals revived Parliament, in a historic declaration today, adopted resolutions that not only stripped the King of his title as the Supreme Commander of the Royal Nepal Army, but also brought his private property and earnings into the tax net. The Kings decisions can henceforth be debated in Parliament as well as challenged in a court of law.

Le Ong italiane attive in Palestina lanciano un appello congiunto contro il blocco dei finanziamenti da parte dell'Unione europea all'Autorità nazionale palestinese e denunciano "il tentativo da parte della Ue di sostituire le Ong all'Autorità palestinese". Dopo l'appello dell'Arci e la denuncia di Medici senza Frontiere (MSF) di compensare le conseguenze sociali delle sanzioni ridistribuendo parte dei fondi attraverso l'Onu e altri organismi di aiuto internazionale le organizzazioni non governative italiane attive in Palestina si uniscono all'iniziativa delle Ong francesi puntando il dito contro il tentativo da parte dell'Ue di "sostituire" le Ong all'Autorità Nazionale Palestinese e richiedono che i finanziamenti all'ANP vengano immediatamente sbloccati. Il 10 Aprile 2006 l'Unione Europea ha confermato la sospensione dei finanziamenti diretti all'Autorità Nazionale Palestinese ed a tutt'oggi si susseguono solamente dichiarazioni di futuri impegni di assistenza umanitaria senza un seguito concreto.

The World Bank said the NGOs in Bangladesh should not be involved in political activities like elections to uphold their achievements made so far, reports UNB. Direct involvement in politics is not under the purview of their activities
the focus of their activities should be on social development, World Banks senior economist in Dhaka Hassan Zaman said.

The United Nations launched a year-long $300-million plan to begin rebuilding areas of northern Pakistan devastated by an earthquake seven months ago.More than 73,000 people died and about 3 million became homeless in the powerful quake that hit Pakistani Kashmir and adjoining North West Frontier Province on Oct. 8.
