Britannian pääministerin Tony Blairin vaatimus EU:n noin 50 miljardin euron maataloustukien leikkaamisesta on nostanut Ranskan maanviljelijät vastarintaan ja asettanut Ranskan presidentin Jacques Chiracin vastakkain Blairin kanssa. Blairin mukaan tuet ovat väärin suunnattua rahankäyttöä.

This week, CCPA Senior Economist Ellen Russell is predicting a surplus of $6.8 billion in 2004/05 and $9.5 billion in 2005/06, while the government is projecting surpluses of $3 billion and $4 billion, respectively. The CCPA's calculations include the additional spending that was negotiated by the NDP and included in Bill C-48.

Sulkemismääräystä edelsi Coca-Colan piittaamattomuus aluehallinnon aikaisemmista määräyksistä rakentaa jäteveden puhdistamo ja lopettaa ympäristölle ja ihmisille haitallisen kadmiumin laskeminen lietteeseen. Coca-Cola on viime aikoina kohdannut paljon vastustusta Intiassa.

22.08.2005 EU ja Kiina solmivat kesäkuussa uuden sopimuksen rajoittamaan Kiinan tekstiilituontia EU-alueelle. Sopimus on voimassa vuoden 2007 loppuun ja se koskee vain osaa tekstiileistä.
