29.10.2007 "La violenza ai danni dei minori è una emergenza globale che riguarda indistintamente qualsiasi strato sociale e ogni paese del mondo comprese le nazioni ricche che tollerano abusi nelle mura domestiche come l’Italia": è quanto emerge dal seminario 'La violenza sui bambini e le bambine' promosso oggi a Roma da Save the Children in collaborazione con la Commissione Parlamentare per l’Infanzia. L'associazione chiede "un garante nazionale per l'infanzia e norme più severe per prevenire ed eliminare le violenze sui minori che si consumano soprattutto in famiglia, a scuola, negli ambienti di lavoro, ma anche un protocollo vincolante per le audizioni dei minori". Secondo il Rapprto dell'Onu, in Italia sarebbero 1 milione i bambini che assistono a episodi di violenza e maltrattamenti all’interno delle mura di casa.

Film festival showcasing South Asian culture
26.10.2007 The second South Asian Film Festival is currently on in New Delhi. Starting from October, 24, the festival will go on until October 30. A total of 45 films, including mainstream cinema, documentaries and short films are going to be screened.

25.10.2007 Bihar is one of the few states in India, which has failed to reap the benefits of modern technology. To catch up with other states, the government now plans to take internet into the rural hinterland. The e-kiosks will function as delivery points for e-governance and e-learning centres, providing information and services such as commodity rates, agricultural counselling, health and hygiene, etc.

The University of California (UC), Berkeley has become the first university to make its entire course lectures and special events available to viewers on YouTube. The university’s recently launched educational technology services (ETS) delivers course and event content as podcasts and streaming videos.
