"Ancora oggi la povertà uccide 50.000 persone al mondo mentre un miliardo di donne, uomini e bambini continua a soffrire la fame e la mancanza delle più elementari cure sanitarie. Nel frattempo i governi, tra cinismo e indifferenza, si dimenticano persino di rispettare i propri impegni. Ormai è certo che un cambiamento reale sarà possibile solo con una rinnovata mobilitazione della società civile mondiale. Per questo centinaia di organizzazioni di tutti i continenti, già da tempo impegnate nella lotta alla povertà, stanno unendo i propri sforzi per sollecitare i governi di tutto il mondo a cambiare le proprie politiche e mantenere le promesse realizzando almeno gli Obiettivi di Sviluppo del Millennio delle Nazioni Unite. Anche in Italia centinaia di gruppi e organizzazioni hanno risposto all'appello ed hanno dato vita ad una Coalizione nazionale contro la povertà.

The first way to analyze a federal budget is to look at what's been called for and what was delivered. Last fall, CPJ called for a limited, realistic mix of measures that would make a serious difference in the level and depth of child and family poverty in Canada. The government came through on its childcare commitment but offered nothing new on housing, child benefits or the Canada Social Transfer.

WASHINGTON, D.C., Feb 24 (OneWorld) - Global policymakers scheduled to hold special U.N. talks starting next week must boost women's share of resources and political standing in the developing world if they hope to make a significant dent in world poverty, researchers say.

Additionally, the government has failed to give any indication, through a timetable, when it might reach the internationally agreed to target of 0.7 per cent of Gross National Income for aid spending.

Approximately 800,000 people live below the poverty line in Serbia, with less than 4,790 Dinars monthly per household member.

“Poverty is the greatest problem of the Roma. Because of that, people live in conditions of insufficient hygiene. The children don’t go to school because of the lack of possibilities to maintain basic hygiene, and the lack of money to buy school equipment and textbooks”, says Supanj Semsi, President of the “Neretva” Association of Roma from Mostar.

Rat ih je doveo do kotorske raskrsnice, ali velikog izbora nisu imali. Nista im, do smetlista na Lovanji, nije preostalo, pa su tu podigli naselje. Daske i ter-papir im bio jedini gradjevinski materijal. Mnogima su bili interesantni dok su iz inostranstva pare, ne kapale, nego lile. Na tridesetak porodica Roma i Egipcana sa Kosova vjezbala se humanost. Kolektivna i pojedinacna, inostrana i domaca, vladina i nevladina.

Bez donacija medjunarodnih organizacija, drzava nece biti sposobna da sama realizuju Akcioni plan ‘Dekada Roma 2005-2015’, koji predvidja smanjene siromastva i diskriminacije - ocijenio je na jucerasnjoj konferenciji za novinare koordinator mreze romskih nevladinih organizacija Veselj Beganaj. Vlada je 20. januara usvojila Akcioni plan, cime se obavezala da Romima obezbijedi bolje uslove zivota. Prioriteti u realizaciji tog plana bice obrazovanje, zaposljavanje, zdravlje i smjestaj Roma, kojih u Crnoj Gori ima oko 20 hiljada.
