La pobreza tiene causas políticas y económicas y no constituye un estado natural de las cosas, por lo tanto es modificable. El problema en Argentina es que desde l976 en adelante se ha producido una terrible concentración de la riqueza lo que deviene en que los ricos son cada vez más ricos y los pobres cada vez más pobres.

The Indian Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is preparing a new scheme for speedy rehabilitation of manual scavengers in alternative dignified jobs. The ministry has sought the cooperation of the states so that manual scavenging can be eradicated and scavengers can be rehabilitated in a time bound manner.

Sencillamente, estamos desilusionados con el resultado de Gleneagles. Las resoluciones no colmaron para nada nuestras esperanzas por una estrategia integral y radical que dejara a la pobreza de África en el pasado. La Cumbre simplemente reafirmó las decisiones existentes sobre la condonación de la deuda y la duplicación de la ayuda.

Hoy mueren innecesariamente 50.000 personas por día. Si los gobernantes realmente aplican el anuncio de hoy de manera urgente, calculamos que para 2010 la cifra descenderá al entorno de 37.000. Quienes se han sumado al mayor movimiento del mundo para acabar con la pobreza pueden sentirse orgullosos de que sus voces y esfuerzos asegurarán que millones de personas más vivirán en salud y dignidad, pero no descansarán hasta que cesen todas esas muertes innecesarias.
