Bayer CropScience, the multi-national agro-chemical and biotech corporation, has dropped its court action against Friends of the Earth. It had tried to prevent the environmental group from telling the public how to access safety data on pesticides - including a flagship weedkiller for use on GM herbicide tolerant crops in the UK, Glufosinate Ammonium.

Tansaniassa ympäristön saastumiseen herätään harvoin ilmiön itsensä vuoksi, mutta monet elinkeinot ovat riippuvaisia luonnonympäristön tilasta. Paikallisten ympäristöjärjestöjen suurin haaste onkin saada ihmiset ajattelemaan kauemmas tulevaisuuteen. Ongelmista ei voi syyttää yksin köyhyyttä, vaikka monet ympäristöhankkeet tehdäänkin köyhien parissa, järjestöt muistuttavat.

Un illecito ogni 400 metri di litorale per una somma di 17.871 illeciti con un incremento del 7,2% rispetto al 2002. Allarme depurazione: infrazioni in aumento del 43%. Cresce, grazie al condono, l'abusivismo edilizio. Sicilia, Campani e Lazio le peggiori regioni. E' salpata intanto Goletta Verde, la storica campagna ambientalista di informazione e monitoraggio della qualità delle acque di balneazione.

Friends of the Earth, the European Environmental Bureau and Greenpeace have criticised the European Union for failing to set measurable targets for protecting the environment and human - particularly child - health. A recent report in the Lancet has revealed that one in three child deaths in Europe is due to environmental factors.
