30.06.2005 The world's eight richest nations, or the G8, represent 13 percent of the world's people but are responsible for 45% of the world's carbon emissions. Leaders at the G8 Summit in Scotland need to wake up to the fact that time is running out to tackle climate injustice, says Friends of the Earth International, calling on individuals and groups throughout the world to ring bells on July 7 at exactly 13:45 (Scottish local time).

30.06.2005 Last month, Carol Kobliski, a member of the Nisichawaysihk Cree Nation (NCN) and the leader of the Justice Seekers of Nelson House returned to her office to find papers strewn everywhere and her computer destroyed. Carol says that she recognized a group of young men as they ran from the building. She and the Justice Seekers of Nelson House openly oppose the Wuskwatim Dam project. The NCN vote on the Wuskwatim Dam project has been postponed for the fourth time.

28.06.2005 At a recent meeting on oceans and the law of the sea at the UN, delegates agreed that the world must address the impacts of ocean noise on marine life. This is in contrast to Canada's attempts to ignore the impacts of seismic testing on marine life. "It is shameful that DFO and the Minister of Fisheries are choosing to play dumb so that oil and gas companies can have their way," says Elizabeth May of the Sierra Club, noting that the DFO continues to allow seismic testing in sensitive regions like coastal Cape Breton.

Kredit je namijenjen da se koristi u sljedećih sedam godina za ''zaštitu Albanskog obalnog prirodnog blaga i kulturnih dobara te promovira održivi razvoj albanske obale,'' izjavili su Tiranski dužnosnici Svjetske banke. Organizacijska komisija odobrila je kredit ovog utorka.

World Bank
27.06.2005 The World Bank said Thursday that it was giving Albania a US$17.5 million (euro14.45 million) loan to clean up its coastal area. The loan, to be used over seven years, is to protect Albania's coastal natural resources and cultural assets and promote sustainable development of the Albanian coast.

24.06.2005 The Indian government has taken steps to ban the blending of MMT, a manganese-based deadly octane enhancer, in petrol as it damages the brain and also harms emission control components in vehicles. New Delhi-based NGO, Centre for Science and Environment, has alleged that though it was banned in Canada and the US, the MMT business had just about begun to shift its base to Asia and Africa.
