The continuing activities of this NGO aim to strengthen environmental journalism, which has an important place in the process of increasing awareness and understanding of environmental problems in the public, as well as assist the journalists in finding sources of information on the environment.

05.06.2006 In occasione della Giornata Mondiale dell'Ambiente indetta dall'Unep per oggi lunedì 5 giugno Wwf Italia presenterà al governo Prodi un memorandum di 45 temi che sintetizza le misure concrete ancora in sospeso su energia, clima, parchi, biodiversità. "Abbiamo creato uno strumento snello e al tempo stesso puntuale che possa accompagnare sempre i membri del Parlamento e i Ministri nei prossimi passaggi istituzionali ricordando temi, azioni, urgenze a difesa dell'ambiente" - ha dichiarato Fulco Pratesi, Presidente del Wwf Italia. Nei giorni scorsi 14 associazioni ambientaliste hanno inoltre chiesto un decreto legge al ministro dell'Ambiente per bloccare il cosiddetto "Codice dell'ambiente" e con esso un contenzioso con le regioni e con l'Europa. Un'indagine di Legambiente rileva che è malato il 21% dei corsi d'acqua e oltre 4 illeciti al giorno dal 2003 al 2005. «Controllare i cambiamenti climatici: quale impegno per l'Italia?» è il tema della tavola rotonda che avrà luogo oggi a Roma per lanciare la campagna, promossa dall'Unione Europea, di sensibilizzazione sui cambiamenti climatici. E parte oggi in Italia e in molti Paesi d'Europa la campagna "Sei tu che controlli i cambiamenti climatici".

Nastavkom rada ova nevladina organizacija nastavlja jačati okolišno novinarstvo, koje ima vrlo važno mjesto u daljem povećanju razumijevanja ekoloških problema u javnosti kao i pomoći novinarima u pronalaženju izvora informacija o okolišu.

02.06.2006 L'Associazione per i Popoli Minacciati (APM) è preoccupata per le gravi conseguenze che la completa realizzazione del progetto minerario Pascua Lama potrebbe avere sulla popolazione della regione e sull'ambiente. Il progetto Pascua Lama è un progetto transfrontaliero (Cile-Argentina) che intende sfruttare giacimenti di oro, argento e rame in un zona conosciuta in Cile anche con il nome di "Giardino dell'Atacama". Il progetto della multinazionale mineraria canadese Barrick Gold, che è disposta a investire 500 milioni di dollari Usa nell'affare, inizialmente prevedeva lo spostamento dei ghiacciai millenari Toro 1, Toro 2 e Esperanza scaricando i loro ghiacci sul ghiacciaio Guanaco e andrebbe a stravolgere l'equilibrio naturale della valle del Huasco sul fronte cileno e della Riserva della Biosfera di San Guillermo, area protetta dall'Unesco, sul fronte argentino.

01.06.2006 A workshop for the “Making the National Campaign for Sustainble Waste Management” has been organized in Ilidza (Sarajevo) between May 27th and 28th, gathering 14 representatives of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from across Bosnia and Herzegovina with the common goal to define the guidelines for a Campaign that should contribute to solving the greatest environmentalproblem in BiH. The Workshop was implemented within the “Strengthening the role of NGOs for the Environment in BiH” Project, managed by the Center for Environment Banja Luka jointly with Ekotim Sarajevo, and financially supported by the European Union.

01.06.2006 Following the advice of a World Bank report India: Unlocking Opportunitites for Forest-Dependent People, the Andhra Pradesh State Government plans to revise the Andhra Pradesh Forest Act, 1967 to increase its income from forest revenue. The report says that India's forest income can increase by $2 million by 2020.
