16.10.2002 In the same Gujarat district that recently triggered off a series of communal riots in the Indian state, thousands of villagers are enjoying the benefits of the Internet. A project has put online existing computers in dairy farms and PCO booths, which are now used to supply to villagers printouts of almost all types of government forms.

06.10.2002 A fragile woman sitting in front of a computer in this tiny village is engrossed in the text and the images that keep changing on the screen. She scans the Net for news developments around the world as others watch her unbelievingly. They are surprised for the simple reason that she looks far away from an educated woman and definitely not the one who can dabble with computer and Internet.
