03.12.2004 This paper focuses on scalability, sustainability and collaboration aspects in building infokiosk or knowledge center, summarising viewpoints from an e-discussions, Video Conference and the Task Force Reports emerged out of the National Policy Makers’ Workshop held in July 2004 in New Delhi. This Workshop envisaged the launch of Mission 2007, a nation-wide movement facilitating the setting up of knowledge centers/ info kiosks in each of India’s 600,000 villages by the year 2007.

28.11.2004 UNESCO has brough out an Arabic version of its popular community radio manual to expand the reach of community media in the Arab region. The original version of this guide, 'How to do community radio', narrates the experience of its author Mr. Louie Tabing who was the project officer of 'Tambuli', one of the first community radio stations in Phillipines.

RLEK has been working with the Van Gujjars - an isolated tribal community in North India - and fighting for their rights over the use of forestland. In this backdrop it has equipped the Van Gujjar community with wireless sets for better communication and empowerment.

Deepalaya is an Indian NGO whose mission is to promote the overall development of unprivileged communities, with a particular focus on education. Deepalaya. They offer computer classes to their students, starting at the age of 10 (6th grade). Computer training is also included in their vocational programme.
