This is the third offering of the COL-PROTEIN (Poverty Reduction Outcomes Through Education Innovations and Networks) programme, where COL identifies and supports innovative uses of appropriate information and communication technologies (ICTs) and open, distance and technology-mediated learning methodologies to address challenges confronting the rural poor relating food security, environmental protection, rural development, nutritional education and micro-enterprise.

The Global Fund for Women works to strengthen women's organizations outside the United States by providing small, flexible, and timely general-support grants ranging from $500 to $15,000. It supports organisations that demonstrate a commitment to women's equality and female human rights; show concern about the way women are viewed and view themselves in society; are governed and directed by women; consist of a group of women working together (the fund does not accept requests from individuals); and are based outside the US.

The Gender Unit of IDRC is launching a competitive call for proposals for research investigating whether and how contemporary decentralisation reforms, in practice, contribute to or on the contrary hinder the realisation and protection of womens and girls civil, political, social, economic and/or cultural rights. Up to five grants will be awarded, each with a value of up to CAD $100,000, for projects of 18 months to 2 years. Deadline for submission of applications: December 5, 2003.
