09.01.2007 "Chiediamo una equa soluzione della controversia che porti ad una bonifica ambientale pagata dalle imprese multinazionali, ad un risarcimento delle popolazioni locali per i danni subiti, ad una politica che consenta ai più poveri di beneficiare dello sfruttamento delle risorse e ad un rilascio di chi è stato ingiustamente arrestato". Cominicia così l'appello di p. Alex Zanotelli, Giuseppe De Marzo e Alessandro Marescotti per la liberazione dei tecnici rapiti in Nigeria. Il 7 dicembre 2006 sono stati rapiti in Nigeria Francesco Arena, Roberto Draghi, Cosma Russo e il libanese Imad Saliba, tecnici Eni che si occupavano dell'estrazione del gas naturale nell'area del delta del fiume Niger.Il rapimento è stato rivendicato dal MEND (Movement for the Emancipation of the Nigerian Delta). A un mese dal rapimento facciamo appello al governo italiano perché si attivi concretamente ed in modo efficace per la liberazione degli ostaggi.
