29.03.2006 The Helsinki Committee for Human Rights published the fourth miscellany of essays Helsinki Files, under the auspices of the “Serbia in Modernization Processes in the XIX and XX Centuries” project. The miscellany was dedicated to women and children during this period.

Minori 'invisibili' - da Amnesty
29.03.2006 Dopo il rapporto di Amnesty International anche Save the Children Italia denuncia trattenimenti illegali nei Cpt (Centri di permanenza temporanea) e ripetute violazioni dei diritti dei minori stranieri che sbarcano sulle coste del nostro paese. Come confermato da testimonianze raccolte da operatori di Save the Children Italia risulta che minori stranieri, sia non accompagnati che accompagnati dai genitori, vengano trattenuti nei vari centri di detenzione esistenti in Italia anche per periodi prolungati e in strutture riservate ad adulti. Tale prassi rappresenta una grave violazione dei diritti dei minori ed è in contrasto con la Convenzione ONU sui Diritti dell’Infanzia e dell’Adolescenza e la legge italiana, in base alle quale i minori non accompagnati non possono in alcun caso essere trattenuti presso i centri di identificazione o di permanenza temporanea.

29.03.2006 Promuovere uno standard di azienda socialmente responsabile, prendendo come fondamentale riferimento la proposta di Norme sui diritti umani per le imprese, pubblicate nel 2003 dalla sottocommissione per i diritti umani delle Nazioni Unite. È con questo scopo che ActionAid International, Amnesty International, Arci, Fondazione Culturale Responsabilità Etica, Mani Tese, Movimento Consumatori, Movimento difesa del cittadino e Ucodep hanno fondato l’associazione “Valore Sociale”. Valore Sociale si propone come punto di riferimento per le aziende che intendono avviare un percorso di certificazione, che garantisca l’adeguamento ai più elevati standard in materia di tutela dei diritti umani e dell’ambiente.

21.03.2006 Sono 9 milioni i bambini in Africa orfani a causa dell’Aids: lo documenta il rapporto “Madri scomparse” diffuso ieri da Save the Children. Il dossier sottolinea inoltre il dramma di milioni di bambini nel mondo costretti ad assistere le proprie madri malate. Save the Children stima in 19 milioni le donne, nel mondo, colpite dal virus dell’Hiv e dell’Aids. Almeno il 90% sono mamme, la maggior parte di esse non ha adeguate cure mediche. "E’ tempo che i donatori, in particolare le nazioni del G8, il Fondo Globale per la lotta all’Aids, Tbc e Malaria, la Banca Mondiale e la Commissione Europea, si diano da fare stanziando le risorse necessarie a sostenere quei bambini la cui infanzia è negata dall’Hiv e dall’Aids" - chiede Save the Children. Fino ad oggi, tutte le indagini sui bisogni dei bambini si sono concentrate su ciò che accade dopo la morte dei loro genitori. Tuttavia, per fare veramente la differenza, è cruciale aiutare i bambini che convivono con un familiare ammalato oltre a quei minori resi orfani dall’Aids.

ECPAT nastoji ohrabriti svjetsku zajednicu da se posvuda osigura djeci ostvarenje njihovih temeljnih prava oslobođeno od svih vrsti komercijalne seksualne eksploatacije.

21.03.2006 Educationists in the south Indian state of Andhra Pradesh hit upon the idea of a floating school on a boat to draw children who would otherwise be helping parents at work. A perennial problem in rural India is of parents refusing to send their children to school therefore the boat brings the school to the homes of children.
