06.09.2006 Sähkövoima- ja automaatioteknologiayhtymä ABB sopi elokuun lopulla vahingonkorvauksesta yhdysvaltalaisen tytäryhtiönsä Lummuksen 10 000 työntekijälle. Korvaukset johtuvat heidän altistumisestaan asbestille. Kahdentoista vuoden aikana maksettavat korvaukset nousevat 31 miljoonaan euroon. Tapauksen uskotaan olevan koko ABB-yhtymää horjuttaneen asbestiongelman viimeisiä episodeja. Mailmanlaajuisesti asbestiongelma on kuitenkin kaikkea muuta kuin ratkaistu.
