Weeks of heavy rain flooded over 30 percent of the country and left hundreds of homeless in Bangladesh, which is experiencing some of the worst flooding in recent years and terribly affecting day to day life. The estimation shows around 10 percent of the countryÂ’s 80,000 primary schools had been affected due to floods.

ActionAid report on the explosion at an Indian army ammunitions base in South Kashmir, reflects on the impact of blast on the health of the people. It is found that the blaze left three out of four of the displaced ones suffering from sleep disorders. 64 per cent have respiratory tract infections induced by toxic smoke.

According to researchers at Tel Aviv University, the people who crave for computers first thing in the morning and obsessively check emails in the middle of the night are suffering from "Internet addiction disorder". They said that Internet addiction can be better diagnosed if treated like any other extreme and menacing addiction, such as kleptomania and pathological gambling.

UNAIDS melaporkan, di seluruh dunia, setiap hari terjadi 11.000 kasus penularan HIV/AIDS baru. Saat ini, 40 juta orang di seluruh dunia diperkirakan hidup dengan HIV. Namun, hanya 28% saja yang memiliki akses memperoleh obat.

Pasal 35 Perda ayat 4 bidang Kesehatan Papua yang berisi rencana pemasangan alat pantau pada pengidap HIV/AIDS harus segera direvisi. Ketua Legislasi DPR Papua Demas Patty membenarkan alasan penentang dan berjanji akan segera merevisi.

Hingga kini, tiga penduduk Pidie positif mengidap AIDS. Dari jumlah itu, satu di antaranya dikabarkan sudah meninggal tahun 2005. Sedangkan dua orang lagi masih dalam perawatan medis.

Satu lagi narapidana di Rutan Medaeng diketahui mengidap AIDS. Narapidana bernama MS, 27, itu saat ini dirawat di IRD RSU Dr Soetomo. Hingga beberapa waktu lalu, MS tidak mengetahui bahwa dirinya mengidap penyakit HIV/AIDS.
