The 'We Can' campaign that is a South Asian campaign to end violence against women is holding a national meet in the eastern Indian city of Bhubaneshwar. The National Change Maker Assembly is being attended by nearly 300 partners and will disseminate information on the campaign and highlight issues relating to violence against women.

A number of factors have led to a steady increase in the use of children as soldiers. Technological developments and the proliferation of weapons, especially small arms, have made semi-automatic rifles light enough to be used and simple enough to be stripped and reassembled by a 10-year-old child.

In occasione del 10 dicembre, 58mo anniversario della Dichiarazione universale dei diritti umani, Amnesty International organizza una serie di iniziative in favore di vittime di violazioni dei diritti umani. Alle 12 di sabato 9 dicembre prenderà il via su internet la "Maratona Azioni Urgenti" in cui gli attivisti invieranno appelli in favore di persone che stanno subendo violazioni dei diritti umani. E per porre immediatamente fine agli stupri e alla violenza sessuale in Darfur la coalizione “Globe for Darfur” lancia l'appello "Basta violenza contro le donne in Darfur" denunciando che le misure di protezione adottate inizialmente dai peacekeeper dell’Unione africana hanno perso efficacia negli ultimi mesi, determinando un aumento degli attacchi nei confronti delle donne: il 12 dicembre il Consiglio dei diritti umani dell'Onu si riunirà per una sessione speciale sulla crisi in Darfur.

Ihmisoikeusjärjestö Amnesty Internationalin Suomen osasto palkitsi ulkoministeriön asevalvonnan yksikön Amnestyn perinteisellä kynttiläpalkinnolla, joka luovutetaan kansainvälisen ihmisoikeuksien päivän kunniaksi. Amnesty haluaa antaa palkinnolla tunnustusta asevalvonnan yksikön aktiiviselle työlle kansainvälisen asekauppasopimuksen (ATT) edistämiseksi vuosina 2003-06.

Organised gangs are recruiting the next generation of internet criminals by approaching undergraduates on university campuses. In some cases gangs offer to finance undergraduates' studies and plant them as sleepers within target businesses, according to a report on cybercrime which draws on intelligence from the FBI and British and European hi-tech crime units.

The 'We Can' campaign was launched in 2004 in South Asia to end all forms of violence against Women. The aim is to challenge and change deeply-entrenched gender-biased societal attitudes and practices that endorse gender discrimination and violence.
