Over 18000 participants attend the World Summit on the Information Society in Tunis. Presidents, prime ministers, ministers as well as representatives of the development, civic and private sector were among the participants. Macedonia was one of them, represented on both official Governmental and civil society level. Read the report by Metamorphosis.

Republika Makedonija nemase svoj stand na Svetskiot samit za informaticko opstestvo, za razlika od skoro site zemji od sosedstvoto, osobeno Bugarija, Romanija i Hrvatska, koi gi promoviraa ne samo svoite postignuvanja od oblasta na IKT tuku i turistickata ponuda na nivnata zemja. Zemjite od EU bea pretstaveni i so svoi standovi i preku zaednickiot stand na EU, i site organiziraa nastani da go privlecat vnimanieto na posetitelite. Golem broj na NVO isto taka bea osobeno zastapeni, del so posebni standovi, a del vo ramkite na standovite na svoite drzavi. Tie bea posoceni od site govornici, i od vladiniot i od privatniot sektor kako biten partner vo izgradbata na informatickoto opstestvo.

U petak, 25.11.2005 na međunarodni dan borbe protiv nasilja nad ženama počinje globalna kampanja 16 dana aktivizma protiv nasilja na osnovu roda/spola koju realiziraju neformalne grupe i ženske organizacije diljem svijeta. Kampanja 16 dana aktivizma se koristi u vidu organizacione strategije individua i/ili grupa diljem svijeta, koje zahtijevaju eliminaciju svih oblika nasilja nad ženama.

Kiusaamistarkoituksessa tapahtuva kännykkäkuvaaminen ja tekstiviestin lähettäminen on yleistä lasten ja nuorten keskuudessa. Kuvaamiskulttuurin luomiseksi Pelastakaa Lapset on teettänyt Oon ihQ (mut en liian) -nettikampanjan, jolla halutaan herättää 12–15-vuotiaat tytöt miettimään, millaisia kuvia nettiin kannattaa itsestä laittaa.

Overcoming social barriers and geographical divides, a grassroots worker from India, Latha Gauri, has succeeded in creating a space for the concerns of the common people at the Second World Summit on Information Society (WSIS). The WSIS process, currently in progression at Tunis, the capital city of Tunisia in Africa seeks to create an Information Society which is accessible to all and based on shared knowledge.

On the afternoon of Friday, November 18, 2005, one of three stakeholders taking part in the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) drew a line in the sand. Civil society (CS) representatives from all continents lined up on a panel to deliver a stark closing statement. At the same time, International Telecommunications Union UN-o-crats drew conclusions of their own a couple of hundred meters away in the plenary room.

L'eco delle iniziative della dissidenza tunisina è entrata anche al Vertice mondiale sulla società dell'informazione (WSIS). Mentre si teneva una manifestazione promossa dal premio Nobel per la pace 2003, Shirin Ebadi, al centro di Tunisi in un edificio dove dal 18 di Ottobre otto persone sono in sciopero della fame, nella sala "La Goulette" nella sede del vertice ufficiale si teneva un forum sulle riforme delle istituzioni internazionali organizzato da Ubuntu e Cris dove diversi sono stati gli interventi sul tema. Al Vertice, che si è chiuso oggi, nessun impegno concreto è stato però assunto dai Paesi ricchi, che hanno rifiutato di destinare risorse al Fondo per la solidarietà digitale lanciato proprio a Ginevra, con l’obiettivo di ridurre la distanza tra il Nord e il Sud del pianeta in questo settore.

Prvi dan sam bila očajna tražeći žene po prostoru uz toliko nadmoćnu prisutnost muškaraca, posebno onih uniformiranih i naoružanih. No, kad sam malo pogledala uokolo, vidjela sam (osim participanata) pretežno žene u ružičastom koje rade kao čistačice i hodaju okolo vukući vreće sa smećem.

Wednesday afternoon, November 17, the Tunisian Human Rights League (LTDH) invited the press and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) for what was to become a marathon of explicit talks challenging the Tunisian government on its human rights record. While heads of states’ speeches present at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) were pouring in on all TV channels, revolution was just around the corner in another district of Tunis. Bio je to izrazito naporan, hektičan i rastresen dan, tako da se nadam da ću dati barem kratak pregled prije nego što padnem od umora. Dakle, nakon gotovo sedmogodišnjeg rada na ovom procesu, konačno vezujemo vezice i približavamo se dogovoru. Da, riječ je o otvaranju WSIS-a II!

A prototype of a $100 wind-up laptop is being presented at the World Summit on the Information Society this week. Governments, the U.N., and private companies have expressed interest in making sure the low-cost computers become available across the globe to all students--even in the poorest and most remote places.
