Though many fonts are available for the Armenian language, these are not standardised enough for a reliable information exchange. UNESCO and the Matenadaran Institute in Yerevan of Armenia have jointly launched a project to develop a unicode compliant font of the Armenian language which dates back to 405 AD.

A new information and communications centre was recently opened in Armenian capital Yerevan as part of the country’s efforts to boost access to the Internet and e-governance. The centre, which has 38 workstations and can accommodate 600 users a day, will promote ICT through research and training programmes, and public discussions, and will serve as a hub for Freenet public access sites being established in many regions.
