Nepal has developed simple and cheap technologies that make the best of local resources and don't damage the environment. The new technologies have been indigenously designed, based on traditional skills and knowledge, and are cheap and easy to use and maintain.

Mr. Mahabir Pun of Maygdi District of Nepal has been awarded the 2007 Ramon Magsaysay Award for Community Leadership. He is being recognized for his innovative application of wireless computer technology in Nepal, bringing progress to remote mountain areas by connecting his village to the global village.
