15.09.2005 The teachers and students of Peru have undertaken the initiative to mainstream gender equity in the teaching and learning process. In collaboration with Boston-based Concord Consortium and the Peruvian Ministry of Education's Huascarán Project, EDC conducted five core on-line and face-to-face trainings to support teachers in developing essential skills and a critical understanding about the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in fostering student-centered, project-based teaching and learning, with a focus on gender equity.

22.12.2004 Community computer centres in Peru connected to W-Fi-enabled internet are providing agricultural information to the local farming community. The Agricultural Information Project also aims to provide internet connectivity to the local organisations in charge of water irrigation, helping them in coordinating their activities.

06.11.2003 At a ceremony held in Colombia, the Association for Progressive Communications (APC) announced the winners of the 2003 Betinho Prize - three remarkable information and communication technology (ICT) initiatives from Peru, Mexico and Argentina that are improving the lives of people and communities in Latin America. Two Brazilian networks received honourable mentions.

A few months and training later, she is surfing the net for better production and processing methods for potatoes, barley and oca. 22.06.2002 Peruvian Congressman Edgar Villanueva is pushing legislation to obligate all public institutions to convert exclusively to open-source software. Open-source could take the expense out of software upgrades, which is important for a country like Peru that owes about USD$30 million in overdue software license fees.

11.11.2001 Kun ensimmäiset kuusi tietokonetta asennettiin hiljan Huacrapuquion yläasteelle Perun vuoristoseudulla, koulun 83 oppilasta tuskin uskalsivat koskea niihin. Huacrapuquion ja muiden Andeilla sijaitsevien maaseutukeskusten asukkaat ovat valtaosin intiaaneja. Moni aikuinen on kokonaan tai osittain lukutaidoton. Nyt heidän lapsensa ovat loikkaamassa tietokoneiden aikaan, jos kunnianhimoinen suunnitelma toisen asteen koulutuksen uudistamisesta toteutuu. Huascaran-suunnitelmaksi kutsuttu hanke on päätetty aloittaa alkuperäisväestön parissa. YK:n kasvatus-, tiede- ja kulttuurijärjestön selvitykset kertovat, että intiaanilasten oppimistulokset jäävät nykyopetuksella usein heikoiksi.

08.11.2001 Els indígenes camperols del Perú ingressaran a l'era cibernètica a través dels seus fills gràcies al Plan Huascarán que promou l'ús massiu d'Internet a l'ensenyança pública obligatòria. La població rural del districte de Huacrapuquio ha estat elegida pel Govern peruà per començar a posar en pràctica aquest ambiciós programa que pretén utilitzar la informàtica per millorar el rendiment dels estudiants. Durant els quatre anys vinents s'espera incorporar anualment al programa més de 400 escoles rurals fins aconseguir en un futur que tot el sistema educatiu accedeixi a les tecnologies de la informació. Actualment, el Perú figura en els últims llocs de l'Amèrica Llatina en l'ús d'ordinadors, amb 13 equips per cada mil habitants i presenta, segons la Unesco, un dels índexs més baixos de l'Amèrica del Sud en rendiment escolar, especialment a l'àrea rural.

El Plan Huascarán  promueve el uso masivo de Internet en la enseñanza pública secundaria de Perú
08.11.2001 Los campesinos indígenas de Perú ingresarán en la era cibernética a través de sus hijos gracias al Plan Huascarán que promueve el uso masivo de Internet en la enseñanza pública secundaria. La población rural del distrito de Huacrapuquio ha sido la elegida por el gobierno peruano para poner en práctica este ambiciosos programa que pretende usar la informática para mejorar el rendimiento de los estudiantes. En los próximos cuatro años se espera incorporar anualmente al programa más de 400 escuelas rurales hasta conseguir en un futuro que todo el sistema educativo acceda a las tecnologías de la información. Actualmente, Perú figura en los últimos lugares de América Latina en el uso de ordenadores con 13 equipos por cada mil habitantes y presenta, según la UNESCO, uno de los índices más bajos de América del Sur en rendimiento escolar, especialmente en el área rural.
