24.03.2004 Els atemptats de l'11-M i els dies successius fins a les eleccions van marcar una fita en l'ús d'Internet a Espanya. Milions de ciutadans van apostar pels diaris digitals per informar-se dels atemptats, mentre que la consulta de premsa internacional on line per contrastar els fets va potenciar la dimensió global de la informació. Internet va afavorir també l'acció solidària a través d'espais de suport a les víctimes o banners de rebuig al terrorisme, entre altres. La convicció que es podia contrarrestrar la informació oficial amb l'acció ciutadana va marcar definitivament la relació entre política-tecnologia-ciutadania: la capacitat per convocar manifestacions, reenviar versions informatives o llançar consignes a través d'Internet va superar les previsions.

24.03.2004 Los atentados del 11-M y los días sucesivos hasta las elecciones marcaron un hito en el uso de Internet en España. Millones de ciudadanos apostaron por los diarios digitales para informarse de los atentados mientras que la consulta de prensa internacional on line para contrastar los hechos potenció la dimensión global de la información. Internet favoreció también la acción solidaria a través de espacios de apoyo a las víctimas o banners de rechazo al terrorismo, entre otros. La convicción de que se podía contrarrestrar la información oficial con la acción ciudadana marcó definitivamente la relación entre política-tecnología-ciudadanía: la capacidad para convocar manifestaciones, reenviar versiones informativas o lanzar consignas a través de Internet superó las previsiones.

18.03.2004 UNESCO is setting up HIV/AIDS information centres for youth in Mozambique, Tanzania and Bulgaria. This is part of a project to implement preventive HIV/AIDS activities by improving access to information and raising awareness among youth about the potential risks and the ways for a more efficient prevention.

13.03.2004 La Free Software Foundation Europe risponde pubblicamente alla lettera aperta al Sindaco di Roma redatta da Paolo Pietrosanti. L'associazione che difende, sviluppa e diffonde il software libero in Europa evidenzia come il concetto stesso di software libero sia nato proprio per non discriminare nessuno. Nella lettera sottolinea anche che esiste software sviluppato in Italia con fondi pubblici ma rilasciato con licenze limitanti e proprietarie, di fatto impedendo che su questi progetti si crei un ecosistema fertile di utenti e aziende, libere in tutti i sensi.

03.03.2004 The Citizens of Tuzla and Banja Luka are invited to take active participation in the public debates on the development of informationa society in B&H, which will be held in these two cities. The goal of the debates is to raise the public awareness about the information society in B&H, as well as to involve the public in the processes of strategic development planning. The debates are just one segment of the public campaign for development of information society in B&H, which also includes experts’ debates, as well as seminars and workshops for the members of the press and the media. The next two debates will be held in Mostar and Sarajevo, later in March and April, respectively.
